About Hanford Chinese Kitchen

In the heart of Hanford, California, a city rich in history and cultural diversity, lies the Hanford Chinese Kitchen, a long-standing and unassuming gem that has been serving the community with a variety of traditional Asian dishes. Located at 145 N 11th Ave, Hanford, CA 93230, this Chinese restaurant has become a staple for locals and visitors alike, offering a menu that includes popular favorites such as Mongolian beef and Hunan shrimp.

Hanford itself is a city with a fascinating past, particularly in its China Alley, which has been a hub of Chinese American culture since the late 19th century. The area was initially settled by Chinese immigrants who came to work on the Southern Pacific Railroad and later stayed to engage in farming and other businesses. Over time, China Alley flourished with a mix of restaurants, homes, boarding houses, general merchandise stores, herb shops, and even a Taoist temple, making it one of the few remaining historic Chinatowns in rural America[5].

The Hanford Chinese Kitchen continues this legacy by providing authentic Chinese cuisine in a welcoming environment. The restaurant’s commitment to using fresh ingredients and traditional cooking methods ensures that each dish is not only flavorful but also a testament to the culinary heritage of the region. Whether you’re in the mood for spicy Szechuan dishes or more delicate Cantonese options, the Hanford Chinese Kitchen offers a diverse menu that caters to a wide range of tastes.

For those interested in exploring the rich history of Hanford’s Chinese community, a visit to China Alley is highly recommended. The area is home to the historic Taoist Temple, which was likely built before 1886 and served as a residence for single men. The temple’s preservation is a testament to the community’s efforts to maintain its cultural heritage[1][3].

The Hanford Chinese Kitchen is easily accessible by phone at +1 559-583-0147, making it simple for customers to place orders or inquire about the menu. This accessibility, combined with its central location, makes it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions.

In addition to its culinary offerings, the Hanford Chinese Kitchen plays a significant role in preserving the cultural identity of Hanford’s Chinese community. By serving traditional dishes, the restaurant helps keep alive the memories and traditions of the early Chinese immigrants who settled in the area. This connection to the past is particularly important in a region where historical sites like China Alley continue to inspire new generations.

The story of Hanford’s China Alley is also deeply intertwined with the Wing family, who have been instrumental in shaping the culinary landscape of the area. Gong Ting Shu, also known as Henry Wing, was one of the earliest residents of China Alley, opening a noodle house named Mee Jan Low in 1883. His grandson, Richard Wing, later established the renowned Imperial Dynasty Restaurant, which became a landmark in China Alley until its closure in 2006[3][4].

Today, the Hanford Chinese Kitchen carries on this tradition of excellence in Chinese cuisine, offering a dining experience that is both authentic and inviting. Whether you are a local resident or just visiting Hanford, this restaurant is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring the rich culinary heritage of the region.

Food was simply not good. Greasy, flavorless, and soggy. Of course, my presentation doesn't look too great but presentation can't save bad food. Not even particularly cheap for what you get.

First and Foremost Forget your concept or expectations for "Chinese Food" you can't compare a "certain" fast food place with a authentic restaurant. (BTW I still love that certain place no doubt) The food is freshly prepared and the quality is good. What makes it challenging is your taste buds. πŸ™€ The taste may overwhelm you if you aren't used to it. For example i had the combination plate #3, it was delicious πŸ˜‹ but for me the chicken Chow mein was a bit salty at first but After a few bites my tongue adjusted. The pork fried rice was amazing, at first it feels bland but once your taste buds adjust you can savor it properly.πŸ˜‹ The orange chicken was good, πŸ‘ but the sauce was too much for me. 😿 So i couldn't get to the finish line πŸ˜… . My suggestion go with friends, order different things and take it slow trying it. Every place will always be different, just like pizza you can't expect every place to taste the same just because they look the same. πŸ™… Overall in my humble opinion the plate size (proportion) for the price is a good deal. You just gotta find what you like best. Don't hesitate to ask questions, since it's all fresh you can pretty much custom choose your food to an extent.

Went dined in on a Monday night..we were the only people there lol..The waitress was nice, but we were thirsty cause she didn't offer to refill our waters. Even after we asked for more. (I think she forgot) It was just okay for me. A little on the salty side. I think this was a one time deal breaker for me. I had the beef and broccoli, chicken chowmein, and orange chicken..shown in picture.

***PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING*** This is what $70 worth of food in take out gets you. Not sure if it's different eating there, but it shouldn't be that much. 10 out of 10 would not recommend. $12 for an order of Hong kong syle chow mein in a tiny to go container with NOTHING BUT NOODLES. $12 for a 16oz container (the larger of everything else) seems excessive...Everything was super small portions. Update: to add insult to injury, the full order of salt pepper pork tiny container was 1/4 filled with sprouts at the bottom to appear like there was more pork.... smh

This place is overpriced. It is ridiculous that it cost 40 dollars for some chow mein and walnut shrimp. A small amount of each at that. that I could have gotten at dynasty for way less and better quality. This place is mediocre at best and their food isn’t worth the break in your wallet. Choose somewhere else. There are plenty in town.
